With accessibility as an integral and essential aspect of the design and build of our websites, we employ universal design principles that ensures our web pages can be viewed and navigated effectively by all of our users, independent of the device they are using.

Our accessibility standards are in accordance with the EU Accessibility Act and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2AA.

Customising HSF Health Plan Website

HSF Health Plan website pages are designed so that you can change the style, size and colour of the font used. If you wish to do so, please see the customising guides for browsers below.

Screen Reader / Voice Browser / Screen Magnifier Users

Our web pages on the site are, as a minimum, in line with all of the Priority level 1 criteria of World Web Consortium’s W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Version 2.2

Colour-blind users

We have checked the site font and background colour combinations for the various colour-blindness conditions and ensured that items are not referenced by colour alone. Should you wish to change the colour of text and background by introducing your own style sheet, please follow the instructions in changing the style sheet in the link browser links above in the ‘Customising HSF Health Plan Website’ paragraph.

Keyboard-Only Users

The website has been designed for use in keyboard-only operation. When using the forms or controls for the tools, the keys to use are as follows:

• To select from dropdown boxes, use up and down arrow keys;
• To select/unselect a check box, use the space bar;
• To move forward between links, use the tab key;
• To move back between links, use the shift + tab keys;
• To initiate an action button, use the Enter key when the action button is selected.

Navigating our HSF Health Plan Websites

Our websites contain many links to useful information which are underlined to make them easily noticeable. Links to non-HSF Health Plan websites and downloadable files such as PDF will open in new windows.

For non-mouse users and those that use screen readers, HSF Health Plan website pages can be accessed using your standard keyboard short cuts and links are made as descriptive as possible.

Browsealoud/Reachdeck – Making Websites Talk

Browsealoud, now known as Reachdeck, reads webpages aloud for people who find it difficult to read online. Reading large amounts of text on screen can be difficult for those with literacy and visual impairments.

Browsealoud/Reachdeck makes using the internet easier for people who have:

• Low literacy and reading skills
• English as a second language
• Mild visual impairments.
